By embracing the Catholic Christian Outreach program, we hope to equip our parishioners with the skills necessary to evangelize. The CCO program cooperates with the Holy Spirit, hoping that all people will internalize and put into action the great task Jesus gave his disciples, “to go and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:18).
From The Joy of the Gospel: "A spirit-filled evangelization is one guided by the Holy Spirit, for he is the soul of the Church called to proclaim the Gospel. Before offering some spiritual motivations and suggestions, I once more invoke the Holy Spirit. I implore him to come and renew the Church, to stir and impel her to go forth boldly to evangelize all peoples."
Our goal is share the message of Jesus and to spread His mission. This mission is to form apostles—believers who, through the empowerment and inspiration of the Holy Spirit, send others to proclaim the message. And through this evangelization, we hope to create a community within our parish where friendships flourish. We hope that, as we sit together each week during Mass, we might look around us and greet our neighbours by name, knowing a little bit more about them.
The three pillars of discipleship are to proclaim, equip and commission. We believe that a clear and simple proclamation of the Good News of Jesus is urgently needed in the world. As Pope Francis has proclaimed in his encyclical, The Joy of the Gospel: It is his hope "to stir up enthusiasm for a new chapter of evangelization full of fervour, joy, generosity, courage, boundless love and attraction!"
